Ancienne Lorette

This is a city that is located in Quebec. It is actually a suburb to the west of Quebec City. This city has a rich history which trails back as far as 1674 when some Huron’s were fleeing from the Iroquois and settled here for protection.

Then after that French settlers moved in to the region. Since this city has such a rich history there is much to see here for visitors. Each year the Centre Jardin Hamel houses a collection of live butterflies called the Papillons en Fete.

If you are interested in art you may want to visit a 150 year old building which showcases the work of many famous painters and has a framing shop on the premises. Quebec city was once a huge urban centre and farming began in the countryside in the 17th century. The region around the St, Lawrence was the first to have a rural population. These days you can find the earliest seigneuries from New France.
